Pursuant to Directive 91/629/EEC, the present Regulations establish the minimum standards to be applied for the protection of calves confined for rearing and fattening purposes. The Veterinary Services shall be responsible for inspections in order to ensure compliance of holdings with the conditions prescribed in the Schedule attached. Regulation 9 sets out the penalty to be applied in case of infringement.
