This Decree of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia establishes rules for keeping animals of wild species and alien species in captivity for public exhibition in the space designated for that purpose. For the purposes of these provisions zoo is defined as a place where animals are kept in captivity for public exhibition for at least seven days a year, with at least the following number of animals of wild species: (1) six species of large mammals or twenty other species of mammals, (2) six species of owls or birds of prey or twenty other bird species; (3) ten species of amphibians or reptiles; (4) twenty species of fish, cephalopods and crustaceans; (5) hundred species of butterflies; (6) or hundreds of species of other invertebrates. This Decree is composed of 14 articles divided into the following Sections: Introductory provisions (Sec. 1); Authorization (Sec. 2); Control (Sec. 3); Transitional provisions (Sec. 4); Final provision (Sec. 5).
