With a view to ensure the uniform application of the Community legislation on the protection of wild birds, the present Decree regulates the exception made by article 9, paragraph 1, letter c) of Directive No. 409/79/CEE. According to the principles of said article, the capture and keeping of wild birds may be allowed only for specified purposes and for a specified period of time. The technical and scientific control of the conditions required is entrusted to the competent regional authorities in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Agricultural Policies.
