The Regulation establishes emission standards for hazardous and dangerous substances contained in waste water discharged in water bodies in order to prevent, eliminate or reduce water pollution. The text of the Regulation is divided into five Chapters, Additional, Transitional and Final Provisions and five Annexes. The Chapters deal the following: general requirements (1); emission standards for admissible content of dangerous substances contained in industrial waste water and discharge standards for waste water coming from urban wastewater treatment plants (3); emission standards for some industry sectors (4); monitoring systems (5). All definitions are given in the additional provisions. Schedule I contains a list of dangerous substances. Schedule II prescribes the standards for mercury contents. Schedule III specifies maximum content of, among others, Cadmium, HCH, CC14, DDT, aldrine, dieldrine. Schedule IV sets out the criteria for the identification of sensitive and less sensitive areas and Schedule V defines the emission standards for waste water deriving from the industry sector.
