This Regulation prohibits the use on farm animals of certain substances having a hormonal effect, tireostatic and beta-agonists.
Treatment of specially marked animals must be registered by a responsible veterinarian. Such records shall contain the following minimum information: a) the type of treatment; b) the type of approved products; c) the date of treatment; d) information about the identity of treated animals. These records must be available at the request of the competent authority.
The measures stipulated by this Regulation are aimed to protect the food safety through the application of measures on every live animal or aquaculture deriving organism that is meant for human consumption.
The Annex is an integral part of this Regulation.

Upon the entry into force of this Regulation, the Regulation prohibiting the use of certain beta-agonists and substances having a hormonal or tireostatic effect on farm animals (Official Gazette 112/08) will be no longer in use.
