This Regulation aims at preparing environmental projects in order to ensure environmental protection with the principle of sustainable development. This Regulation sets forth provision on strategic environmental assessment report, EIA, and the implementation and monitoring of strategic environmental assessment plans and programmes. This Regulation has been drafted in line with the Directive 2001/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 June 2001 on the assessment of the effects of certain plans and programmes on the environment.
