The purpose of the present Law is to implement the Council Directive 79/409/EEC of 2 April 1979 on the conservation of wild birds. The Law lays down provisions relating to the sustainable protection of nature and landscape in the Land of Sachsen-Anhalt. To conserve the environment for future generations, nature and its landscape, being the living space of human beings, shall be protected in such a way as to secure in the long run its integrity, capability of regeneration and sustainable use, as well as to ensure the conservation of flora and fauna and living spaces, including its beauty and recreation value.
