These Rules regulate slaughter-houses and provide for the handling and treatment of live animals intended for slaughter for human consumption.
The Director-General shall grant licences to applicants who wish to use any premises as a slaughter-house as specified in the Rules.
The Rules further provide for: the prohibition of employing persons affected by certain diseases; issuance of certificates by authorized examiners to the owners of the animals unfit for slaughter; marking and tagging of carcases; removal of animals or carcases from slaughter-houses; etc.
